Taking Mental Health Days


More and more we hear about "Mental health days" but what exactly does this mean?
A mental health day is a day where you give yourself a break, you give your brain and body a break from all the stresses that life throws at you and you do things that make you happy. Mental health days are typically days taken off from work or school in order to recuperate.

Dealing With Triggers


Whilst in recovery you will find yourself having to deal with your triggers. I have always known what triggers my anxiety and over the years I have learned to deal with it and until the other night I would have 100% said that I am currently living a nice anxiety free life and have not needed to worry about any triggers for a while.

Its that time of year where finally the holidays are in sight, be that because exams are over or the stressful academic year is coming to an end but what now? Many people with mental illnesses can find this particular period hard as there is no longer a structure to their lives and structure is incredibly important in recovery. In this post I will give you some tips that I have found helpful to ensure that your holidays won't be wasted and so that you can continue to feel good in yourself.

I am the first person to find myself wriggling in anxiety, especially at my oral exams which for me are the worst of the worst exam wise. When Do I Earn The Title Of Recovered?


I have always seen recovery as a destination. But that has got me thinking, where is "recovered", is it a month clean? 3 months, 6 months, a year? Is it being able to not feel any anxiety? Is it being happy all the time?

‘How do you manage to maintain such a positive outlook on life?’


As complimentary as this question would naturally be, up until now it’s been something that’s always seemed so foreign to me for one main reason: how easily worry and stress could and to a certain degree, still does build up on me. The process of learning to control and harness these insecurities has by no means been straight forward and gradually I’ve learned to accept that it will most likely never be fully complete.
